President’s Day is one of those holiday’s for me that I kind of forget to celebrate. I believe that this country hasn’t seen a GREAT president for a while now. Why can’t our current leaders be more like the men that founded this great country? Leaders who are tenacious, courageous, strong, faithful, valiant, encouraging men. These men stood up for what they believed in so that future generations, our generation, would live in a world free from tyranny and oppression. A world where we are free to speak our minds, protect ourselves and practice our religious beliefs without fear. There are many freedoms that were included into those wonderfully inspired documents that established us as a free nation and provided the foundation of our government. These men, like all great leaders, faced death for their “crimes”. They were considered traitors to the crown! Yet, they knew that what they were embarking upon, was worth dying for!
I’m not sure our leaders today believe that the “causes” they pursue, in the name of liberty, are worth dying for. They pursue things for their own agenda and to gain political votes. I’m not convinced that our leaders today have the same vision for this country that our forefathers had. I’m certain that they don’t truly understand the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution! Where are those men that will fight for what is right? Rather than lining their pockets with our money!
I know that this country was founded by divine interventions. There are no coincidences when it comes to the destiny of this great land! George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock and 53 others were specifically called and guided by the hand of the All Mighty. This land, America, IS the promise land. No other land is there so many freedoms or rights afforded to it’s people. God has promised his faithful that if they would believe in him, they should not perish and would continue to flourish. With every great promise comes a warning – should we fall into unfaithfulness and sin – we have no promise!
I believe that this country is still great however; we are weakened. This country and it’s people have the power to change things. We need to find that same spirit, that drove our founding fathers to greatness, within ourselves! We have the voice! The government is established FOR the people and BY the people. That wasn’t written for us to forget about!
This is an election year. There are many vying for the opportunity to “lead” this country. Will they lead us farther from our destiny or to it? We the people of the United States of America have a divine right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” By God’s grace this country can be great again!!!
May God continue to bless this land – and may it’s people turn their hearts back and become what we are destined to be!
