I’m all about reward charts – they work really well for Ethen! He even reminds me every morning! I should come up with a new system that is re-useable but a simple piece of paper and stickers work for now (not to mention that I get to use up all these stickers that I have!)
Ethen’s latest reward chart was started because he was getting into the habit of coming into our room every night. I don’t want to sound cold and heartless but he really needs to stay in his room. If he is genuinely scares of course we ease his fears. But as parents we all want our children to learn to be independent and learn to deal with their own fears and shortcomings (I realize that a 5 year old still needs help with this – hence the reward chart)
I created a BRAVE chart and for every night that he was brave he got a sticker! He did amazing!!! Of course there were still nights that he was scared and that’s ok but they were FAR less than before.
So now that he’s filled the chart with fun stickers he gets to go play at Chuck E’ Cheese’s as his reward!
Now I’m wondering if I should make a new one or let him try on his own… maybe a new one for now and a $1 store toy for reward or something. We shall see!
