Today has absolutely been one of the longest days of my life. Lil’man woke up this morning at 3 A.M. from a nightmare. We have been working on Ethen staying in his room at night, so started a reward chart. He had one day left and last night would have been it. After a reminder he said he didn’t care and wanted in our bed. I typically don’t mind him cuddling up with us and usually take him back to his room once he falls back asleep. This morning however; was a whole other story! He stayed awake! Even asked for a bath – AT 3 IN THE MORNING!!!
Of course he was upset when I said no to the nocturnal soaking. So I finally got him back to his room and not even 30 minutes later he was back in my room saying he couldn’t sleep. I had yet to fall back asleep as well so I tucked him into bed next to me only to get up and move to the couch with him 10 minutes later (we were keeping Jonathon awake and since he’s the main breadwinner of the family working 2 jobs AND attends night classes, I thought it would be a good idea to just let him sleep.)
At about 5 A.M. both Ethen and I still awake I finally told him to go play in his room – to which I was greeted with a resounding YESSSSS!!!! -
So I since I was up I started on some much needed housework and actually feel very accomplished today. I just wish I wasn’t so dadgum tired! I was able to catch some z’s when Ethen went to school but that wasn’t very restful (was conscious about the fact that I had to listen for Ethen’s bus from school.) So that lasted only about an hour.
So we are down to 1 hour and 45 minutes before bed time. Ethen has had about an hour and a half nap (and was quite resistant to being woke up). I pray we make it – if I ever needed patience NOW is that time!
Hope Ethen sleeps THROUGH the night tonight!
