Decorating… Finally!

Normally we set up our Christmas decorations the Sunday after Thanksgiving. With everything going on right now and being sick – it was kind of pushed to the back burner. BUT – Ethen refused to let us have Christmas without decorations, which included the tree.

We had to wait for daddy to get home to get the tree going so we took the time to set up our Nativity Scenes. This one is my favorite – and Ethen’s too because he actually gets to play with it!!!

Ethen and I made a special ornament just for daddy – Can’t go wrong with some bullets!2013-12-24 08.45.55

Ethen always puts on the first ornament and the star on top! This year he was REALLY into decorating the tree. I loved seeing his eyes light up with each ornament that was opened and unwrapped.

I have to admit that I was having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit. I get so bogged down by the commercialism of it all. I know that Christmas is truly about the birth of our Savior. As we set up the various nativity scenes and Christ-centered ornaments on the tree I was able to remember this. I don’t need the tree, the lights, the ornaments or even the nativity scenes to feel the Spirit of the season. The Spirit of Christ can be felt all year round and you don’t need material trinkets to remind you! I love this time of year – simply for the reminder that Christ truly is who he said he is! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and that the light of our Savior touches your lives – as he has done for me!
