It Wasn’t My Fault!!!

Literally…

The car accident that I was involved in this afternoon was not my fault!

Many have heard this story but I shall tell it again!

I was on my way home from work. Driving about 65 mph on the 215 beltway. As I approached the I15 northbound exit I check my speed (like a good driver does), well when I looked up all I see are break lights that I am QUICKLY approaching! I slam on my breaks – nope not gonna make it – so I swerve onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the Ford 500 in front of me. (Thankfully the vehicle in front of her swerved to the shoulder as well, leaving HER room to stop safely without having to maneuver). This however did not stop the Jaguar S-Type from side swiping me and PLOWING into the Ford 500!!!

I get out and make sure everyone in the other cars were ok (they were), then dialed 911… like any normal person would do. To our luck, NHP (Nevada Highway Patrol) was there within about 10 minutes!

So HERE is the kicker to this story! The driver of the Jaguar – pulls out a bottle of Vodka and TAKES A DRINK – right next to the NHP Officer!!! I was blown away! (After speaking with my brother-in-law, former metro officer and paralegal he said this is a trick that people do – they wouldn’t be able to “prove” that the breathalyzer  was positive due to his “calm my nerves” drink or if he was drinking and driving.") 2012-08-07 17.47.14

Well the adrenalin finally kicked in and when asked to write my statement – I couldn’t stop SHAKING!!! It was hilarious!

Well on my way after about an hour with nothing more than a bent up fender. Sure glad I didn’t have that Jag though, it was TOTALED! We couldn’t even put it in neutral to push it out of the road! The rear end of the Ford 500 will need replacing along with a new muffler (the tail pipe was all bent up).

Here’s the damage to my baby (ha ha).2012-08-07 18.34.472012-08-07 18.35.00

Unfortunately, I didn’t get ANY pics of the Jag or the 500 but that’s ok.

I’m so glad Ethen wasn’t with me. The car hit on the side that he normally rides on! I thank God that no one was seriously injured, it could have been worse!
