In today’s society it seems that fatherhood is something of an annoyance, something to be dealt with or another check in the box of a long list of “To Do’s”. Sure any man can father a child, but it takes a special man to raise that child. Children NEED fathers! There is no way around this! Children raised in a setting where a father is not only present but involved have a higher rate of success in school, life and are less likely to abuse drugs or promiscuity. Children NEED fathers!
This Father’s Day I am so grateful for the father in our lives! Jonathon is an amazing father. He works long hours and still, at the end of the day, finds time to be with Ethen! Jonathon takes the time to be a constant example of the man, I hope, Ethen will one day become! He teaches Ethen not only about the things of this world, such as the value of work, honesty and how to be a decent person, but also of those things of eternal value - our Savior, the scriptures and following the Prophet. Jonathon truly, truly amazes me when it comes to being a father.
He is not perfect – but what father, on this earth, is? None! Since I have been blessed to have such a wonderful man leading and teaching our son – I try extremely hard to make Father’s Day special! This year was no different! Since Jonathon had to work today we celebrated on yesterday!
We always celebrate events by going to dinner – Jonathon’s choice this year – Claim Jumpers!
Present Time! Ethen wanted to get Jonathon a T-Shirt with a skateboard on is – but we couldn’t find one! So a Hurly shirt will have to do!
