Family Heirlooms

There isn’t too much that my family has that I really want as a family heirloom. The exceptions are and old family Bible (that belongs to my Uncle Shane), a rocking chair that came across the plains with the Saints during the exodus from Nauvoo, Illinois. This is miraculous that it even survived, most items like that were broken up for firewood. Then there’s my grandmother’s china and crystal – which I am now the proud owner of! It hasn’t been in our family long, but the fact that it belonged to my grandmother makes it absolutely priceless to me!

I was able to bring it home Thanksgiving and spent most of the day yesterday getting it cleaned and set up.  Here’s some pics!!!

All set up… I’m not a china expert so I tried to make it look as pretty as possible… did I succeed?

I’m so excited to have this in my home. I was planning to put a table here in the kitchen but thought this looked much better there!

Now I will always have a part of my Grandmother with me! I hope to one day have a daughter to pass it to!
