The day has finally arrived! FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! (I feel like Marlin from Finding Nemo at the end where’s he’s bouncing on Nemo to get him up for school!)
I would like to say the day went off without a hitch but that would be a lie – and lying is WRONG!!!
We started with a hearty pancake breakfast. This time Ethen wanted them green! So we broke out the food coloring once again! Right in the middle of it I thought to myself “self… I should take a picture of these!” Of course my camera was out in my car so I quickly stepped out to get it! To my surprise I saw my very good friend driving by (her daughter goes to the school around the corner) so I stopped and chatted with her for a few minutes… needless to say some of my pancakes didn’t make it AND Ethen had added green food coloring to the ENTIRE batch of batter (rather than the small portion I separated for him). So I got to enjoy green pancakes this morning too! They weren’t too bad!
Ethen was so excited to get to school he was ready to go at 9 this morning – he is in the afternoon class! So we went ahead and snapped his “First Day of School Pictures” early!

He’s stepping out in style with his Converse One Star shoes and completing his look with the ever fabulous Phineas and Ferb backpack slug ever-so-cool over one shoulder! (ok I tried to make that sound like I know fashion… but I really REALLY don’t!)

Time seemed to drag by for this antsy little one of mine – Is it time for school yet, seemed to be the phrase of the day! FINALLY the time was upon us – knowing that the school bus schedule would be garbled the first week we headed out into the blistering heat about 1215 this afternoon for a 1230 scheduled pick up time. If you have been keeping up… we waited… and waited… and waited some more… and still… no bus! Ethen was a little bored after a few minutes!
In case you aren’t paying attention – the bus never came YET AGAIN! The second year in a row! If you would like to read about it read my post Dear_CCSD_Transportation_Dept_(Round_2)… needless to say I’m NOT impressed!!! ANYWAYS!
After getting Lil’ Man to school he had sooooo much fun! He was reunited with old friends and made some new ones!
Below is Ethen with April! I need to introduce you to April because this little cutie had Ethen talking ALL SUMMER LONG! So much so that this morning Ethen tell Jonathon – “Today’s the day – Today is the day I tell April she’s my girlfriend!” HAHAHA, My kid is awesome!
Well our first day was not that bad – even with the major malfunction that is CCSD Transportation Department! I’m really excited to have Ethen back in school even for the couple of hours a few days a week! He loves school and I love having those few moments to myself and get stuff done! Love it!
