Ethen got me... good!!!

So the past few days Ethen has been into this pushing phase. He was sent home from school a couple times with a "Red Card" for pushing kids on the playground. I was trying hard to think of ways to get him to better behave at school and not push his friends. Talking to him about it wasn't working. Today we were cleaning out his toys (he donated a huge box full, so proud of him) and I said "Ok Ethen I want you to pick your very favorite toy."

He quickly looks around and finds a truck that he likes to play with. So I took the truck and said "Ok this is your very favorite toy?" of course he nods. I then told him that if he wants to play with this truck when he got home from school he had to get a "green card". If he brought another red card for pushing I would put the toy away until Sunday and he would not be allowed to play with it. He agreed and even rehearsed back to me that he had to be nice and get a green card today.

So the time came when Lil'man was to arrive home. I am anxiously waiting outside for his bus, praying that he made better choices today. Finally after what seemed an eternity, he arrives. He gets off the bus, head held low, frown on his face and looking as if he was just distraught. I started my normal "just off the bus" conversation of "how are you?" "how was school?" "Did you have fun?" "What did you learn?" No matter the question I received no response. So I asked "Buddy what's wrong?"

He looks up at me and with pleading eyes says "I got a red card again."

"A red card? Uh oh, what happened?" was my next inquiry

and without batting an eye... the biggest smile rakes across his little face and he exclaims... "AHHH I GOT YOU!!!! I GOT A GREEN CARD!!!"

So... I'm proud of my little guy for many things today... donated toys, got a green card and has officially been deemed a jokester (*tear*). lol!!! He is definitely my son there is no denying it now!
